Chuck McDaniels is the president and principal of Mica Metal Solutions, LLC. Chuck, a steel sales and technical consultant, is a metallurgical engineer with over 40 years of practical steel process, product, and commercial experience. His career in steel began in 1977 while an engineering student at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA with summer internships at the Bethlehem Steel plant at Sparrows Point, MD and the Ford Steel Plant (now AK Steel) in Dearborn, MI. This initial exposure to the steel industry was followed by a 33-year career in the metals industry that has allowed Chuck to attain extensive knowledge of steelmaking processes and light flat rolled products.

 

He has held positions as quality process engineer, product metallurgist, quality department manager, and plant division quality assurance manager in various organizations at integrated steelmaking facilities. Mr. McDaniels' assignments have included hands-on activities associated with primary side metallurgy as well as with finished hot rolled, cold rolled, galvanized, tin, and Galvalume light flat rolled products. In his positions as quality engineer and product metallurgist, Chuck was responsible for the implementation of many significant cost saving and yield improvement projects at the Sparrows Point facility.

 

As a part of the plant Quality Assurance organization, much of Chuck's career was spent in the field as a technical service representative. He has a reputation throughout the industry as a person of integrity and has fostered great customer confidence throughout the marketplace. His many years of mill and field experience enable Chuck to provide effective problem resolution to many steel problems and provide clients with cost efficient remedies to many steel issues.

 

Chuck is intimately familiar with the development and implementation of quality systems and was a part of Bethlehem Steel's Sparrows Point facility becoming the first integrated steel plant to become ISO 9000 certified in 1993.
